Sena and Eric were living in their Hawaiian plantation dream home on the island of Oahu, not far from where we photographed their Hawaii wedding. They’ve since moved to England, with their kids. Sena documents their life with their small children on her Instagram account, and her followers LOVE her (myself included!). They are such an incredibly sweet family. A big, traditional wedding just didn’t feel like them, and they seemed so completely themselves and at peace being on the quiet, misty cliffside of the mountain.
They are so incredibly dedicated to each other. Eric helped her up the steep hike all the way to the top, even though she probably didn’t need it. He warded off a group of passing hikers to make sure she had privacy while she changed into her gown – behind a bush at the top of the mountain. (Cause let’s be real, sometimes having an elopement style wedding requires a bit of forward thinking… like wearing hiking clothes to get to your destination!). They’ve been together for years, have a beautiful, growing family, and have each other’s initials tattooed on their fingers. They are just SO into each other.
Whatever your heart desires! After watching a storm roll in behind a rainbow, we got a little windblown and rained on, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. Eric + Sena slow danced to Frank Sinatra on the edge of a cliff. They explored the trails and walked down to the edge of the lookout. Mostly, they just loved on each other.
To marry your best friend is honestly something else. To do it in your happy place, alone together, overlooking an ocean that seems to go on forever…it just seems poetic, doesn’t it?! Nothing makes me happier than being able to photograph an intimate wedding. It’s about none of the hype, stress, or drama – it’s just about YOU, the couple. What you love, what you enjoy together, and what makes your heart beat just a little bit faster.
I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation, whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.
