There are so many absolutely incredible places to get married in front of the water. Private lakes, oceanside beaches… and the Great Lakes?! YES! This summer cottage wedding on Lake Huron features a 10pm sunset, rocky private beach adventure and an intimate lakeside ceremony (to name a few details).
Steph and I have known each other for a long time – years, actually! When she asked me to photograph her wedding it was an immediate “HELL YES!” She’s an insanely talented photographer, and just absolutely sweet, funny, and gorgeous. She and her (now) husband Todd are the epitome of cool, down to earth, and fun. They’re just the souls you genuinely want to be around.
They planned their wedding so intentionally and beautifully. They created an amazing retreat space for loved ones to join them on the lake.
You can host friends and family at a beautiful location. The best part is it gives you the flexibility to create your own dream vision.
After everyone got ready in the cottage, Steph + Todd did a private first look in the forest. Afterward the three of us ducked out for photos at a private beach. It was beyond gorgeous, and we got back to the cottage in time for the ceremony overlooking the lake. Their close friend officiated the ceremony, which was absolutely beautiful and moving. It just felt perfect for them.
After signing paperwork on the houseboat, the reception and party started! Everyone enjoyed incredible food, drinks, and hilarious speeches under a clear top tent. The night capped off with chambonging (a brand new term added to my vocabulary, thank you), late night pizza, and partying with plenty of film and polaroids. Basically, my kind of party!
