Pre-Flodesk days….
While I used Mailchimp for several years, I was never EXCITED to focus on email marketing. Y’know?!
It’s still fairly easy to use, free (which is always a bonus!), and customizable – but it just never had that WOW factor.
Mailchimp is great to use if you’re just starting out or aren’t hyper focused on building an email list. If, however, you’re trying to keep your brand consistent and save time, then you might end up like me (mega frustrated). Mailchimp Pros + Cons
Pros:

- Easy to use, set up an account, and customize a template
Cons:
- Has limited templates on the free plan
- Although it’s customizable, the templates are fairly basic from a design standpoint
- Scheduling emails can be a bit complicated
- Once you start building your list, you have to upgrade to a paid plan
Mailchimp was “ok” while I was using it. Not amazing, but not terrible either.
I had also tried out ConvertKit, but didn’t take the plunge because it seemed 1. expensive and 2. mega complicated.
So, I stayed on the Mailchimp-coaster for another few trips around the park because it seemed like the easiest, cheapest option. Until one fateful day…

Words almost cannot describe how much I love this email marketing platform.
It’s beautiful. Everything is streamlined. It’s so easy to customize and the templates are beautifully, artfully designed and (seemingly) endless. They’re even categorized into which steps you should be focusing on.
I haven’t even started with my pros yet. Without further ado!
