If you’re anything like me, you love to travel. I’ve gone one step further, though. I’ve made it my mission in life to see and explore as many cool places as possible. Isla Mujeres Mexico is now way up there on my list of places to revisit in the near future. It was such an awesome place, made even more fun by the company!
Chantal and Brendon are also pretty hardcore adventure seekers. They spend summers camping in their vintage, boho camper van, two kids + two dogs in tow. B cooks breakfast in a cast iron pan over an open flame. They swim in the river, go horseback riding, and chill by a campfire with friends. They’ve spent their holidays with the kids traveling and exploring in lieu of buying gifts.
They favour beach workouts and outdoor runs over being inside. Basically, they’re just super fun and always up for new adventures.
They took a late night ferry from Cancun to cross the ocean to a slice of island paradise – aka Isla Mujeres. The Airbnb they had booked was gorgeous, authentic, tucked away off a quiet road, and had ocean views everywhere! There was also a deck leading out to the beach (talk about a freaking bonus!). Oh, and the kitchen was awesome (which is always important to note because B is an amazing cook!).
After having coffee on the deck and watching the sun come up, I went exploring on the private beach. It was rocky and wavy, but the wind, gulls soaring overhead, and gorgeous light made it so insanely peaceful. The house itself and the staircase just outside the Airbnb was built around existing coral reef where the island used to be underwater. How insanely cool is that?!?
We were also lucky to have had such a gorgeous sunny day. We walked the island to check out the shops and markets, and also hit up Playa Norte – the most beautiful white sandy beach ever.
There’s nothing like going on an epic vacation… And it’s made even better when you have some amazing photos as keepsakes. 😉
AN IMAGE FROM THIS SESSION WAS FEATURED ON WANDERING WEDDINGS!
I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation, whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.
