Ottawa is a beautifully green city, with so many amazing hikes, trails, outdoor spots, and hidden gems along the water. It’s easy to overlook amazing outdoor spaces right in your city. This Ottawa River elopement shows that you can find an outdoor location for photos – right in your backyard.
You don’t always have to travel far to find an epic location for your wedding photos.
These two have been together for years and got married in a simple, small ceremony. They had never had professional wedding photos taken, so Steph was excited to finally have some portraits!
We met at a quiet spot along the Ottawa river and hiked in for their elopement photos. It was a gorgeous day but crazy hot, so when we finally broke out of the trees and onto the water the cool breeze was very welcome. 😉
After a brief vow exchange, they enjoyed their quiet dinner by candlelight, and then we took photos until sunset.
This section of the Ottawa River is very rocky, which makes it a tad tricky to walk on barefoot. It creates an absolutely beautiful setting, though, so is totally worth it. Makin’ It Lovely put together a boho, Moroccan-cum-French-inspired tablescape for the elopement dinner. It was simple, complete with wine, fresh bread, cheese, and fruit.
This boho, floral and handwritten script invitation was designed and created by La Fabere. The burnt orange tassel contrasted with the deep greens.
A simple picnic-style elopement dinner is possible almost everywhere and gives you a chance to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
A large wedding with a long guest list doesn’t mean you can’t get epic portraits. A day-after adventure session allows you to travel somewhere more intimate for photos.
